STUDENT LIFE OUTSIDE THE CLASS
Each activity is focused on ensuring a key component that contributes to the health and wellness for every child.
As educators in the classroom, community and beyond, we approach each day with the dedication of our Founder; to arm our students with the various tools to:
Develop a foundation for a lifetime of learning; Build upon that foundation when teaching by utilizing our seven teaching mandates; and Enrich our student's lives by mandating success through high expectations with consistent family support and community involvement.
Mrs. Peggy Ann Hinson established Romar Academy in 1978, as a non-sectarian independent school. The name "RoMar" was derived from the combination of the letters of Mrs. Hinson's two sons; RObert and MARtin with the third son, Jeffrey being born during the inception of Romar Academy.
Initially located in the West Presbyterian Church at 3078 Swell Road, SW in Atlanta, Georgia accommodating 28 children during its first year of operation. Since inception, students have worn the required yellow and brown uniforms with pride as they excelled.
Romar's curriculum meets and/or exceeds national standards, encompassing common core standards which emphasizes the school's bedrock principle imparting self-esteem, character education, and conflict resolution with each child. This helps them to realize that character is just as important as mental abilities.
